Biography

1972
Born in Bautzen, Germany.

1989–1993
Trained as a typeface and graphic designer at the John Heartfield School in Berlin-Wandlitz.

1998–2004
Studied stage design at the Berlin Weißensee School of Art.

2004–2005
Worked as an assistant stage designer at the Burgtheater in Vienna.

since 2006
Works as a photographer, multimedia artist and curator. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at venues including Staatsgalerie Prenzlauer Berg, Galerie Franzkowiak, Buch+Kunst Berlin, Blue Lotus Gallery in Hong Kong and Galerie 94 in Switzerland.

2015–2021 
Co-founded the photography bookshop and gallery Bildband Berlin and jointly managed it with the second co-founder until spring 2021.

since 2016
Guest lecturer on photography and photobooks at various art schools and universities, including the Berlin University of the Arts, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin.

since 2018
Co-founder, together with Ana Druga, of the publishing house Buchkunst Berlin, which focuses on the creative and conceptual development of photobooks and related publishing projects.

since 2021
Co-founder, together with Ana Druga, of the gallery Buch+Kunst Berlin. The gallery represents and presents historical, modern and contemporary positions in photography and lens-based art.
